kidz kargo discovera stroller review

When we found out that we were having a second child I started looking for a double stroller right away. My criteria was:

-3 wheeled (for easy use on un-even pathways and in the snow)
-reasonably priced
-fit through regular doors

After a long search I decided on the Discovera stroller by Kidz Kargo. It was middle ground as far as pricing went but it came with a rain cover, tire pump and foot muff. It fit through regular doors, had a back seat that reclined and provided lots of weather protection. It also had a good sized basket, removable seat pads and a few pockets in the back for mom or dad.

Here's what it looked like...
And with the rain cover on...
At about 6 weeks T started off sitting in the back because that seat reclined and it offered more weather protection. I found his head wasn't supported enough so I put the head piece from the car seat in the stroller.
J enjoyed being in the front and the stroller worked well. It was super heavy though to both pick up and to just push and I found that there were a few negatives such as:

-With J in the front he often kicked the rain cover causing it to rip
-The stroller would turn with the slightest hint of uneven road

When T had good head control I moved him to front seat which he loved. J enjoyed being in the back and having his own little 'cave' to play in. The stroller became much easier to steer with the lighter child in the front and the rain cover didn't suffer anymore tears.
Unfortunately, there were a few negatives to this situation:

-T didn't have as much weather protection
-J's feet hung into the basket making it almost un-usable
-It was difficult to lift J in and out of the stroller. Often his shoes would get caught
-J could now poke, push and pull on T (oh the joys of 2 little boys!)

The stroller definitely has it's pro's but in our case the cons ended up outweighing those pro's so after 8 months of ownership we decided to say good bye to the Discovera.

  1. Hello, thank you for your comments on the stroller. Though I have a question, do you think the stroller could be used with a universal mini board to ride a third child?

  2. I am not sure. We have since used 2 other double strollers and Phil and Teds is a much better stroller than this one.
