january wrap up and februarys goals

Here was my goal for the month:

January: Inventory & Budgeting
I'm combining these two goals into one this year as I think it will be more effective. I will take inventory of major purchases we will need to make this year and budget accordingly. I will work on increasing our income while decreasing our expenses.

Here is the list of major items we will need this year:

bed frame- already bought
camera- $650
mattress (but in blue)- $350
external hard drive- $150
booster seat-$40
toddler bed- free I hope!
new cell phone-??

And the wish list:
sectional couch $1800 (our family is WAY too big for a 2 seater!)
new sewing machine- $350
a bicycle for me- $150

The bed frame we had planned to buy for A was on sale earlier this month so we picked it up. However, the bed will actually now be my mother-in-laws as she is coming to live with us soon. Due to this, our plan has somewhat changed and we will now look at getting or borrowing a toddler bed for A until my mother-in-law leaves and we can transfer him into that bed. We've never used a toddler bed before so it will be interesting to see how it works out.

Our camera is starting to get pretty wonkie on on us and quiet frankly, while it's great for vacation/underwater pics it isn't very functional for our family. So the plan is to buy a DSLR this year. Also, my cell phone is starting to not hold a charge so it will probably need to be replaced this year. Finally, a car booster seat for J.

As far as budgeting and cutting costs go it's definitely been an interesting month. We have a temporary budget set up however, I am expecting some changes with work so it's not a final one. We also have the cost of bringing and supporting another person into our home so the budget will have to change in the next month. We will be getting rid of a $30/month bill in March and another $40/month one in May.

I feel like I wasn't able to complete this months goals as in depth as I wanted to so it will continue through the next few months.


So now on to February:

Exercise
Last February I decided it was time to get going on loosing some weight. I have been recording my weight once a week ever since so it's a good time to check in and see how I'm doing.

Oh no is it that time already?! Oh dear. Anyways, I will attend an exercise class or do a home workout at least 3 times a week this month and follow up about the weight issue (yikes!). I will review new DVD workouts as I try them. I will also get out for a walk with the boys at least once a week.
