Here was the goal for December:
Family. We will continue to focus on traditions and holiday celebrations as a family.
My plans for this month are to do one activity with the family each week. So far ideas include buying and decorating a live Christmas tree (first time in my life!), attending a lights display, attending a live nativity and making a snow family in the yard. We shall see what happens!
And the verdict is: kind of.
We bought a live tree and the kids helped decorate it which was a blast!
We tried to make it to a light display- we'd bought tickets and everything but after a 45 minute wait just to get close to the parking lot we gave up. We bought the kids a donut and after they had their sticky fill went to bed.
Between work and other appointments we missed out on the Nativity Pageant. I was pretty sad about this so next year I will be more diligent in finding out when it starts and heading there early.
I was all ready to make a snowman with the family and guess what? It's been unseasonably warm and it hasn't snowed enough! My back up plan was to go sledding but the only day we had enough snow and the time to go was on a Sunday so I opted out. N and the kids went though and they had fun.
We did however, get them to Santa to have a visit. (Or I should say I took them which was quite the challenge!). J helped me make and decorate gingerbread men (and eat them too!). I hosted a preschool party which was a blast for everyone. We planted our own Evergreen Tree seeds and had a Christmas Eve picnic on our living room floor in front of the Christmas Tree.
So while not everything I wanted to do got done we did have some quality family time.
I feel like this years goals were not as well fulfilled as the previous years so I need to make sure that I work harder on them for 2012. Reguardless, here is a recap of 2011:
